Fly with a pilot who has become a legend capturing wild animals,
mustering cattle, lifting greenstone boulders and exploring the wonders
of South Westland.
This is one of many quality videos from this professional company including their best known video "The Last Great Adventure".
This one follows the life and history of a well-known hunter, Dave Saxton, who was also a legendary chopper pilot from the South Island's west coast.
The tape is more on the west coast country than the man, with some good bits on the history of thar and chamois thrown in. Some great footage of these mountain dwellers is shown, filmed mostly from a chopper although some very good footage of undisturbed animals is included.
Sound was of good quality as was the classical background music, although a little over-dramatic at times.Commentary was professional and clear as you would expect from a professional film-producing company.
Much of the tape focuses on the beauty of the South Island rivers, glaciers, mountains and tussock country. There is also a good piece on mustering cattle on horseback in the lower river flats plus an interesting piece on how greenstone s harvested from the remote west coast rivers.
About 10 minutes follows on live recovery of red deer with the total production time of about 40 minutes. This tape is ideal for the tourist market as well as an historical insight, filmed in some of our most scenic mountains and valleys.
