-The Battle of Fire Support Base Coral, Vietnam 1968
This is a story of courage and bravery; of confusion and serendipity. It is the story of how on Mothers' day, 12th May 1968 about 250 ANZACS, Australian regular and national servicemen from 1st Battalion RAR, 12th field regiment RAA and the kiwi 161 battery RNZAR stood together to fight off a massive North Vietnamese Army attack. And that was just the first night..... It lasted 26 days, withstood 2 major frontal attacks and 57 separate fire fights...
It's a forgotten battle from a forgotten war.The Battle of Fire Support Base Coral cost more Aussie lives than any other battle fought in Vietnam. And 40 years on, no-one knows about it |
